On a day like this....Oh I need the Lord to help me.

I know it's been forever since I've posted, but I've been busy!!

On the first note, Happy belated Valentine's Day! :)
As our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, we celebrated on the weekend before the 14th. We wandered the mall and got each other gifts. He bought me a pretty ring and a stuffed penguin. :) We also found a place willing to resize my wedding band. They're the first jewelry store that said they'd do it. All of the others said no because it's sterling silver and has itty bitty stones in it. So, I'm without my wedding band for a week. I bought Mike a talking Hoops and Yoyo travel mug. It's the "Hot and Steamy" one so it says four or five different things relating to love when you push the button. He loves it. I also bought him flowers on Monday. I had to make my way in the direction of the flower shop anyway because I stopped at the mini-mart to get stuff to make Puppy Chow. I bought him bright yellow tulips. He always says that nobody ever buys him flowers. Now, he can't say that anymore. Although he did get a super cheesy "I love them, but I'm going to call you a dork to preserve my manliness."

Yesterday, on the other hand was just one of those days. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. I began the day with dropping everything while I was getting ready and followed that by getting tangled in my shirt. Once I got to campus, I opened a Dr. Pepper and that exploded everywhere. I spilled a packet of Instant Breakfast on my lap and threw the milk bottle into an empty garbage can that made a huge bang noise. Cue dirty looks from students who were "studying." I then topped it off with dropping a ketchup packet on the floor and accidentally stepping on it. The ketchup shot across the floor. Like I said, it was definitely one of those days....

I'm hoping today will be better. I'm going to make some snacks and head up campus to study with the hubby. :)

Long day.

So, this is going to be a quick post, but a post nonetheless. I have a half hour before Russian Lit (yeah, it's as horrible as it sounds...) The culture of Russia is cool to learn about. The depressing stories of people throwing themselves into rivers and committing suicide or other depressing happenings is not so interesting. In fact, it's pretty brutal to read. Good news: After 3 hours and 20 minutes of that, I can go home to homemade peanut butter cups. :)

Stumbleupon.com has become my new best friend when I'm bored. There's hours to fill with the sites they send you to! You just plug in your interests and away you go. I've found some cool recipes (which I'll try and post....) and some cool DIY things. I'm going to try one tomorrow. It's a little jewelry box made from match boxes. Cool right? I know.

I can't wait for the day to be over so I can get home to my little cuddle bunny.....and the hubby. :)

On a happy note, Mike's alarm clock is "Trading My Sorrows." I love it. It's such a good attitude to wake up with. "Yes Lord, Yes, Lord, Yes Yes Lord."

I'll be humming that in my head while my prof is going on and on about Russian Lit. :)

Professor Speedy Gonzales

So, I understand that professors need to get through a lecture at a pretty good pace, but I'm pretty sure that the super-speedy ones are part of some departmental competition or something.

Prof. 1: "How many chapters did you get through in your lecture today?"
Prof. 2: "2.5 in an hour."
Prof. 1: "Really? I got through 3 today. One hour."
Prof. 2: "I'm getting there, but my students ask questions."
Prof 1: "Let 'em use their computers, they'll Facebook instead of asking questions."
Prof. 2: "Nah, I kick them out if they use Facebook. But I have my slides online, so whoever wants to take notes the slow way is just going to have to write faster or look online."
Prof 1: "Students actually taking notes?"
Prof 2: "I know, right?"

I'm one of those "old-fashioned note takers" and Professor Speedy Gonzales doesn't make it easy. If I can get lecture notes online, what's the point of even showing up to lecture only to get frustrated when I only get one word per slide down in my notebook? I do better on the tests if I'm writing the notes instead of blankly staring at a computer screen. I don't know. I just thought that they were there to slowly explain and teach, not fly through as many chapters as time allows. If that was the case, anyone could sit up there with their hand on the right arrow key and read the slide like they know it by heart.
